Who Am I?

The RavenI, Chelsea K Potts, am a digital graphics and website designer based in San Jose, California. I enjoy creating stunning compilations and digital illustrations, as well as 3D models. I am interested in e-book cover design. I am currently available for hire so please contact me.

I am a hardworking detail-oriented individual. I pick up new technologies and techniques easily and can generally troubleshoot many a technical issue. I am also extremely camera-shy, hence no headshot (You shall not steal my soul). Though that does not stop me from engaging in some amateur wildlife photography, which ends up consisting of a preponderance of botanical photos (Plants don’t run away).

The Scientific Brain meets the Creative Mind

Before getting into design I was a Conservation Biologist, with a corresponding Bachelor’s degree. I was and still am interested in predator species and botany. The dearth of available positions and a distinct lack of height (5’2”) and an even shorter stride made pursuing this career unfeasible.

While contemplating other avenues to follow, I decided to try my hand at creating web sites. While learning about web design, I was first introduced into the world of graphic design. Suddenly a previously hidden facet of myself was revealed. I could be creative in a way that transcended my meager drawing skills. I have found that I love being able to express myself though the graphics I create.

My Muses

Being wildly eclectic in my tastes offers me many avenues to explore and utilize in my design work. Much of my inspiration comes from the books I read, for example several of my pieces have come from Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels.

“HUMAN BEINGS MAKE LIFE SO INTERESTING. DO YOU KNOW, THAT IN A UNIVERSE SO FULL OF WONDERS, THEY HAVE MANAGED TO INVENT BOREDOM.”

― Death via Terry Pratchett, “Hogfather”

I rejoice in the absurd. I love re-imagining the old folktales and myths, which goes well with my passion for bygone eras (i.e. Medieval, Regency, and Victorian). And the future, I always wonder what the future might hold for us. Shifters, Vamps, Dragons and Fae, oh my! They are just my cup of tea (not that I drink tea, but you get the idea). Additionally, I love playing games from PC and Console to board and card games.

Yours Sincerely,

Chelsea K Potts
